Situated at the western end of Aphrodite's island, Paphos (Pafos) has had its own international airport since 1983. Known as Augusta Claudia Flavia Paphos during the Roman Period, the area is famed for its impressive mosaics. There is much to do at this end of Cyprus. Spectacular cultural attractions such as Paphos medieval fort and the Tombs of the Kings will keep you busy. It is only a short drive to Petra tou Romiou, where legend would have it that Aphrodite emerged from the sea. There is also plenty to keep young families busy, the Pafos Bird Park and Aphrodite Waterpark to name a few.
Further north from Paphos you will reach Polis. Increasingly becoming more popular for villa owners and holiday makers alike, Polis, Latchi and Neo Chorion offer a different experience to Paphos itself. The beauty and tranquility of the Akamas Peninsular is easily accessible and watersport enthusiasts are well catered for in the holiday season. Latchi is also home to some good quality fish restaurants.
